2007 PlayAction PickIt Official Rules

Introduction

Leagues

Participants may sign up to play the Contest up until the registration deadline of Tuesday September 4th, 2007 (11:59PM CT).

In order to keep the leagues as competitive as possible, participants will only be allowed one entry per User ID.

For purposes of these Official Rules, “Registered Users” means a person who has successfully completed the registration form and has obtained a User ID and associated password (“Password”) on PlayActionPickIt.com. Employees of PlayActionPickIt.com and each of their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies and members of the immediate household of each are not eligible to win. Immediate family member is defined as a parent, sibling or any person residing in the same household as an employee of the Contest Entities.  Void where prohibited.  Such excluded employees and/or family members may play, but ARE NOT eligible to receive any prizes.

After registration is complete, each participant will be prompted to join a public/private league or create a private league.  If a participant knows all the participants who are going to join their league, or wants to recruit individuals, they may want to create a Private League. The person who creates a Private League will create a password and other participants will need to enter that password upon registration in order to join the league. The creator of a league will not have the ability to control any other league functions.  Public Leagues are open to anybody. Participants who join a public league will have no control over who joins the league.

Scoring

If the number of games picked correctly is equal to or greater than the Weekly Wager, the point(s) equivalent of the Weekly Wager value will be awarded as a bonus. If the number of games picked correctly is less than the Weekly Wager, the point(s) value of the difference between the two values (actual games picked correctly minus Weekly Wager) will be deducted. 
Example: Weekly Wager = 10, actual games picked correctly = 10+, 10 points will be awarded.

The Power Play is worth 3 points in week one (reset week). Each consecutive week the Power Play is picked correctly, additional points will be available for the following week. During a successful stretch the same NFL team may not be picked more than once. If and when the Power Play is incorrect; 0 (zero) points will be awarded, the Power Play will reset to the original value of 3 points, and all NFL teams are eligible to be picked the following week. 

For each selection that finishes in the top five in Points For and/or Points Against points will be awarded. 5 points will be awarded for a 1st place team, 4 points for a 2nd place team, 3 points for a 3rd place team, 2 points for a 4th place team and 1 point for a 5th place team. Points For and Points Against for each team will be calculated following the conclusion of the final game of each week of the NFL regular season and rankings will be released be shortly after. The top five Points For and Points Against will then be determined and points will be awarded accordingly.
Note: If two squads tie for a top five position, participants will be awarded the appropriate value of that ranking for either/both team(s). Example: If Participant A selects Indianapolis for Points For and Participant B picks St. Louis for Points For and both teams tie for 5th place, both participants will be awarded 1 point.

Weekly Pick Deadline

Weekly picks may be submitted as early as Tuesday afternoon and as late as 1 minute prior to the first scheduled kickoff of each NFL week.  Participants will be able to re-submit their weekly picks as many times as necessary prior to the weekly pick deadline. The last set of weekly picks submitted before the weekly pick deadline will be the set scored for that particular week. Due to the fact that some NFL weeks begin with Thursday and Saturday games, weekly pick deadlines will vary.  Weekly pick deadline reminders will be emailed out as well as posted on the participant login page to help remind all users, however it is ultimately the sole responsibility of each participant to submit their weekly picks on time. In the event a participant fails to submit their weekly picks before the weekly pick deadline, zero points will be awarded for that week. In addition, the Power Play will also be reset for the following week. 

Tip: It may be beneficial for a participant to make their initial weekly picks as soon a possible and then re-submit any changes in an effort to avoid missing the weekly pick deadline. Remember, weekly picks may be re-submitted as many times as necessary in a given weekly pick period. The last set of weekly picks submitted before the weekly pick deadline will be the set scored for that particular week. 

Note: Any scheduled Thursday or Saturday games will be included with the following set of Sunday games as part of each set of weekly picks. PlayAction PickIt weekly picks will coincide with the weekly NFL schedule. 

Note: In the event a regularly scheduled NFL game is cancelled due to weather or any other set of special circumstances without being cancelled prior to Tuesday of an upcoming week, then that week (and all picks made for that by all participants that week) will removed from the overall league scoring as that game could have an impact on one or more scoring categories and present an unfair advantage/disadvantage to a participant. In the event that this scenario should occur an email announcement will be sent out to all participants in addition to an announcement being displayed on the participant login page.  Additionally, if this scenario should occur, then the next set of weekly picks will resume with all available scoring values carrying over from the previous completed week (the week scored previous to the cancellation). Any rescheduled NFL game that falls outside of the 17 week NFL regular season will not be counted/picked/scored as part of the Contest.

Prizes

Roundtrip airfare for 2 from Dallas/Ft. Worth, Oklahoma City or Tulsa to Las Vegas (valued at up to $600) plus a 3 night weekend or 4 night mid-week hotel accommodations at your choice of hotel in Las Vegas (valued at up to $400). Total value - $1000

Grand Prize Winner will have 9 months to book and 1 year to travel from issue date.

The Grand Prize will be awarded to the PlayAction PickIt participant with the highest overall point total at the end of the contest.

If at the end of a season, two of more participants finish with the same overall point total, the following system will be used to decide the League Winner and/or Grand Prize winner:

If you qualify for a prize, we will notify you via email with a link to an Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity/Liability Release.

Potential winners will be required to sign and return, within thirty (30) days of issuance, the Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity (unless prohibited by law)/Liability Release.  Failure to return such documents within the specified time period, noncompliance with these Official Rules, the return of any prize or prize notification or if any potential winner declines a prize for any reason, no prize will be awarded to the next runner up.

Legal Disclaimers

By entering, each entrant accepts and agrees to be bound by these rules and by the decision of PlayActionPickIt.com, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Further, each entrant also acknowledges and agrees to the PlayActionPickIt.com Terms of Service, including, without limitation, the PlayActionPickIt.com Acceptable Use Policy. Taxes, if any, are the sole responsibility of the prizewinners. No substitution or transfer of prizes permitted except by PlayActionPickIt.com. PlayActionPickIt.com reserves the right to substitute a prize for one of equal or greater value in the event that an advertised prize is unavailable. All prizewinners will be required to submit and to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility and Publicity (unless prohibited by law)/Liability Release within thirty (30) days following first attempted notification. Failure to comply within this time period may result in disqualification and awarding of the prize to the entrant with the next highest score. Entrants agree to PlayActionPickIt.com’s use of their names and likeness for advertising and publicity purposes, without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law. All federal, state, local, and provincial laws and regulations apply.
PlayActionPickIt.com is not responsible for lost, late or misdirected on-line entries or transactions, for incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete entry information whether caused by an entrant, equipment, or technical malfunction or for any human error, technical error or malfunctions. PlayactionPickIt.com reserves the right to halt or modify the Contest at any time during the Contest period if events beyond their control compromise the Contest's fairness or integrity. In the event that a scheduled NFL game is cancelled or preempted for any reason, no points will be awarded for NFL teams involved in that particular game in any of the four scoring categories. By entering, each entrant accepts and agrees to be bound by these rules and by the decision of the judges, which shall be final and binding in all respects.
PlayActionPickIt.com is not responsible for typographical or other human or technical errors in the offer or administration of this Contest, including but not limited to errors in advertising, the Official Rules, the selection and announcement of the winner or the distribution of the prizes.
PlayActionPickIt.com, in its sole discretion, may disqualify any entrant from participating in the Contest, refuse to award points or prizes, and require the return of any prizes, if entrant engages in any conduct Administrator deems to be improper, unfair or otherwise adverse to the operation of the Contest or detrimental to other entrants. Such improper conduct includes, but is not limited to, falsifying personal information required during Contest registration or prize claim, violating any term or condition stated herein, accumulating points or prizes through methods such as automated computer scripts or other programming techniques, allowing others to use the entrant's personal information for the purpose of accumulating points or prizes, tampering with PlayActionPickIt.com’s administration of this promotion, or intentionally trying to defraud, reverse engineer, disassemble, decompile or otherwise tamper with the computer programs on this Web site. Entrant further acknowledges that the forfeiture of prize(s) and/or return of any prize(s) shall in no way prevent PlayActionPickIt.com from pursuing other avenues of recourse such as criminal or civil proceedings in connection with such conduct.
PlayActionPickIt.com reserves the right to modify these rules for clarification purposes without materially affecting the terms and conditions of the Contest. This Contest is not affiliated with or endorsed by the NFL or any NFL team. This is a skill Contest designed to increase consumer awareness of and interest in the PlayActionPickIt.com service.

Gambling Prohibition: 2007 PlayAction PickIt is a skills competition and may not be used in connection with any form of gambling or wagering.

Contest Entities, and their parents, affiliated and subsidiary companies and advertising and promotion agencies, assume no liability and are not responsible for, and you hereby forever waive any rights to any claim in connection with, injury or damage to any entrant’s or to any other person's computer or property related to or resulting from participating in this Contest or downloading materials from this Contest.

CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPORTSLINE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

In the event of a dispute, entries made by Internet will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.
Any entry that is incomplete, late, or does not include a validly issued User ID will be disqualified. In the event that the Contest is challenged by any legal or regulatory authority, PlayActionPickIt.com reserves the right to discontinue or modify the Contest, or to disqualify participants residing in the affected geographic areas. In such an event, PlayActionPickIt.com shall have no liability to any players who are disqualified due to such an action.

The parties waive all rights to trial in any action or proceeding instituted in connection with these Official Rules and/or this Contest. Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to these Official Rules and/or the Contest shall be settled by binding arbitration in accordance with the commercial arbitration rules of the American Arbitration Association. Any such controversy or claim shall be arbitrated on an individual basis, and shall not be consolidated in any arbitration with any claim or controversy of any other party. The arbitration shall be conducted in the State of Texas, in the City of Fort Worth, County of Tarrant, and judgment of the arbitration award may be entered into any court having jurisdiction thereof.
